Self Sabotage

We are all guilty of self sabotage at some point in our lives. Whether its big or small, we have done things that we wish we could take back. In my case, I have a lot more than others. So I can speak from experience. From not taking school that seriously, to being defiant to my parents, my life is the way it is because I put myself there. I want to talk about how the lack of self accountability will ruin your life.

Self Sabotage doesn't always come in the form of physical violence. You can destroy your life by the way you think. How you think will determine your behavior. If you always think negative, your behavior will follow. You won't motivate yourself to do better and you will stay in a constant state of depression. I've done it numerous times. My thoughts always ruled over my behavior. whether it was something I want to do or don't want to do, My impulsiveness overridden my ability to think before I reacted.

Procrastination was the biggest one I struggled with. No matter what my desire was, I never had the motivation to stay consistent with it. I had a drum set and a keyboard, but everytime it got difficult, I quit. That was basically everything in my life. In school, my personal life, nothing I got into never stuck with me. All my years of procrastination has finally caught up with me. I now realize the importance of staying in school. The choices you make now, affects you 10-20 years in the future.

So how do you overcome self sabotaging behavior? The first thing you have to do is acknowledge your flaws. If you don't recognize that you have a problem, then no amount of treatment will help. Once you recognize these flaws, don't beat yourself up. You have accept the outcome of your actions, but you can't allow your past mistakes to define you. Don't depise small beginnings. Everyday is a chance to be better than you were the day before.
